Please help , in dire need of advice in regards to a resume / cover letter / Please and thank you : ) ?

I am applying for this award but I am kind of stuck because I have a resume but I have never had to have written one focused on getting an award . How do I focus it . The award link is the secomd one on this page http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=ray+award+&meta= I am qualified but I just don't understand how to focus a cover letter to get an award versus a job. Please help Ive done so much to get this award but now im stuck . Thanks :)
