Does objective truth exist?

"Truth" is that which is actually the case. We have no direct access to it. The best we can do is scientific certainty. I think your sliding scale is basically accurate. Epistemologically, the problem comes in when people decide to step of the scale. For instance, claims that in principle cannot be tested are not even hunches, they're just nonsense.
